We now have courses for Homeschool Middle to High School age student(s) with studio support to help the homeschooler teacher. Course descriptions and more information about this program are listed below.

Kids learn how to build video games but more importantly learn skills like, computer programming, creativity and team work that spur their interest and understanding in technology.

Course Descriptions

Video Game Development Level 1

Students learn the process and related disciplines of video game development by designing and developing your very own online video game that you can share with family and friends! You will learn to create a video game that is playable on the Internet using skills learned in areas of computer programming (JavaScript), 2D graphics-animation, web development (HTML/CSS), sound creating and game design.
Video Game Development Level 2

With the explosive adoption of smartphones and tablets, mobile development is in high demand and rapidly becoming one of the hottest careers. Students having successfully completed the prerequisite course "Video Game Design and Development Level I" will learn how to design and create video games and virtual reality experiences for mobile phones and tablets. This next level course will continue your skills development in areas of programming, graphics, animation, sound and design. Students will use online tools and mobile emulators to develop, design and debug their video game creations.
3D Modeling and Animation A

This course is focused on using 3D Modeling software like Blender 3D and Krita to create game assets, architectural visualization, and animations. You will create a portfolio including projects and material you completed in class.

3D Modeling and Animation B

This course will continue to use Blender 3D modeling software to create next level modeling and animation projects including an introduction to the Unreal Game Engine which is used in most AAA video game titles like Fortnite. After completing this course you may be eligible to receive college credits at Ferris State University in their Digital Animation and Game Design Program. This 'next' level course focuses on 3D modeling, animation and design. Students will learn the fundamentals of 3D game development including creating 3D content (modeling, texturing, animation), programming and entry level using latest industry tools Blender 3D and Unreal Engine 5. Students will also learn how the application of 3D modeling and animation is used in a wide range of industries and projects. Students will work in a team to create a final 3D game/experience project that will be showcased at a game release party and graduation where friends and family are invited to attend and play the games.

Video Game Development - Level 1 Introductory to video game design and development course by Protégé Game Studios. In this level one course students will learn to develop a video game that is playable on the Internet by learning skills in areas of computer programming, graphics, animation, sound creation, game design and web development. Students will access and complete all course assignments, tests, code files and learning material online. Online course meeting date/time with instructor will be posted on classroom landing page.
Requirements: Middle School or High School Student, grades 5th - 12th

Video Game Development - Level 2 Students having successfully completed the prerequisite level one course will learn how to design and create video games and virtual reality experiences for mobile phones and tablets. This next level course will continue to develop skills in areas of computer programming, graphics, animation, sound, design, and learning basic project management skills using Kanban and Agile. Students will use tools and mobile emulators to develop, design and debug their video game creations.
Requirements: Successfully completing Level 1, Middle School or High School Student, grades 5th - 12th.

3D Video Game Modeling and Animation - Segment A Based on Ferris State University's Digital Animation and Game Design curriculum this Protege Game Studio course is focused on using and learning the 3D Modeling software program Blender 3D and Krita which are industry standard programs used by game and visualization studios around the world. You will learn to create 3D video game assets, architectural visualizations, animations and movie special effects. By the end of the semester you will create a portfolio of work which includes a final animation project using 3D digital assets you created during the course.
Requirements: High School Student, grades 9th - 12th.

3D Video Game Modeling and Animation - Segment B This next level course, you will master 3D modeling and animation skills using the Blender 3D program. Using industry techniques and processes you will learn to create models that can be fully 'rigged' and animated for use in video games, animations and movies. Successfully completing both segments (A/B), students will have an opportunity to present their portfolio of work to earn up to six college articulation credits at Ferris State University's Digital Animation and Game Design Program.
Requirements: Successfully completing Segment A, High School Student, grades 9th - 12th.
